But as Marco's investigation develops, new leads spring from cases once thought closed, and the net closes ever tighter on Walsh. Until Marco's own family begins to face threats to their life that could jeopardise the whole case.


Now Marco must prove Walsh's guilt or catch the real killer still be at large, before Marco becomes a victim himself...
 
My Review
I love reading police procedurals and Stephen Puleston is a master at writing them. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Inspector Marco series with it's believable and gritty characters. This was a quick read for me with many twists and turns. I highly recommend this series!!

I was born in Anglesey an island off the north Wales coast and after leaving school in Holyhead I went to University in London before training as a solicitor/lawyer. I practised in a small family business doing criminal work in the magistrates and crown courts, divorce and family work.
I still live on Anglesey, North Wales near the beach and the mountains of Snowdonia

My Review
This is my third book by Stephen Puleston and I am totally loving the Inspector Marco series. I like him more and more as a character with each book. The author sure knows how to write a good police procedural...this is another great example. The plot had lots of twists and turns and I couldn't put it down. The author kept me guessing until the end. Highly recommend this series!!

About The Book

The body of a young Pole working in Cardiff is pulled from the River Taff. His tongue has been amputated in some sort of ritual.

More murders in the Polish community take Inspector John Marco and his team into the East European immigrant community and the murky world of people trafficking.

When the evidence points to one of the city’s criminal and the involvement of a gangster from Poland Marco faces the challenge of gathering evidence from a close knit and secretive community.

And why do the Polish Secret Service seem to be interested?

When Marco finds himself entangled emotionally its impossible for him to think clearly. In search of an answer Marco travels to Poland only to find himself implicated in a murder and hoping he can avoid another.

Racing back to Cardiff he hopes he has enough to unravel the case and arrest the perpetrators.

My Review
The story begins with a floater being pulled from the River Taff. It's the body of a Polish immigrant and his tongue has been cut off. More from the Polish community are found murdered and Inspector Marco finds himself in the middle of a case filled with human trafficking, murder and organized crime.

I love the author's writing style...hooked me from the beginning and held my interest throughout. Inspector Marco is a little gritty and rough-around-the-edges making for a realistic character.

Speechless is a twisting and turning action-packed police procedural which is sure to entertain. I can't wait to read the rest in the Inspector Marco series!

Nobody can hide from the truth ...

Eddie Westford is found dead outside the Cardiff City Football ground. His throat has been cut in a cold-blooded attack. Inspector Marco discovers photographs of Westford sitting in various luxury cars and Westford’s connections with the organised hooligan gangs of Cardiff points to a connection with hardened criminals.

Evidence suggesting Westford is a suspect in a drug related inquiry means that Marco faces having to transfer the investigation to another officer. But Marco’s gut instinct believes that Westford’s death may be connected to some powerful people in Cardiff and he resists the attempts from his senior officer to have the murder case allocated to another officer. Marco embarks on a final last minute attempt to prove his theory with disastrous consequences before he finally identifies Westford’s killer.

My Review
This is my first read of author Stephen Puleston. I totally enjoyed this prequel novella introducing readers to Inspector John Marco. It was a great crime police procedural focusing on the criminal investigation. I loved the teamwork between Inspector Marco and Detective Sergeant Boyd Pierce. 

The author's writing style was great with realistic dialog between characters. I am looking forward to reading this entire series and getting to know the characters better. A great start to a crime series...can't wait to read more.
